In the interview, they confirmed the advantages their children will get from joining the WAT-USA program as Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students. They believe that additional knowledge will be acquired by the on-the-job trainees more so that this phase would involve dealing with superiors, co-workers and customers from different countries with diverse nationalities.

It also has become an opportunity to apply what they learned in school but this time testing the world-class caliber of Mariners as a school in the situation where they are today.

Initial feedbacks from the trainees reveal that the equipment used in the school’s HRM laboratories are at par with what they have in five-star hotels, restaurants and resorts in the United States. Even the course contents of instructions in the classrooms are updated which make Mariners students confident on the details of the job they do.

Meanwhile, the parents have manifested their determination to push for the education of their children despite the financial challenge encountered by some of them in sending their children to school.

“Kung gusto, may paraan (If there is a will, there is a way)”, quipped Mrs. Jocelyn Sardinia, one of the parent-guests. Meanwhile, Board of Trustees Member Ms. Merle Jimenez San Pedro joined the program from Baltimore, Maryland, USA and was able to broadcast using the SKYPE Technology. She assured the parents that all is well with their children undergoing the training as part of their HRM curriculum prior to graduation.

Board President Dante La. Jimenez and BOT Member Dr. Marilissa J. Ampuan are also in the United States at this time fulfilling a mission to visit students on OJT, school alumni and to strengthen the linkages with business firms where Mariners graduates can be employed in the future.
