Legazpi City, Albay – The Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) this city celebrated its Foundation Anniversay on August 4, 2014 in fitting ceremonies and activities which reminisced the humble beginnings of the institution and the realization of what it is now as it continues to tread the path laid down by its founder – Commodore Jaime C. Jimenez, twenty- nine years ago.

The institution adopted the theme - ‘Mariners@29, Celebrating an Achieved Past with a Fearless Response to the Future’.

Indeed it is a fitting slogan as the school observes the occasion as there are countless reasons to rejoice on what it has achieved in the past as it reaches age 29 and the numerous challenges it faces as the school continues its relentless drive towards attaining its goal of being the center of excellence in maritime education in Bicol and in Southern Luzon.

It can be recalled that MPCF-Legazpi has undergone and passed several inspection in the recent years conducted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) which scrutinized the school’s system, quality standard of education and the facilities especially the laboratories on maritime studies.

The acquisition of the ‘fully enclosed lifeboat’, the electronic bridge simulator, the massive infra-structure build-up to accommodate the ever increasing number of enrollees, construction of the new training swimming pool, the state-of-the-art maritime laboratories and the presence of competent and qualified instructors are among the visible factors present at the school campus to herald its compliance with international maritime standards.

Among the pride of the Institution is the unending list of board passers in the licensure examinations given every year by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), with Mariners able to produce board topnotchers. Included in the highlights of the celebration was the giving of the Awards of Recognition to school personnel who have served the institution well; for their longevity in service and their exemplary performance in the respective spheres of responsibilities where they are assigned.

Streamers of this kind hang in the campuses of the Mariners schools in Legazpi City, Camarines Sur and Naga City on August 4, 2014 with the date of MPCF-Legazpi’s founding anniversary coinciding with the birthday of President Dante La. Jimenez. The anniversary celebration coincided with the natal day of President Dante La. Jimenez.
At the ‘Employees’ Night’, the personnel and administration had an opportunity to interact, unwind and enjoy the camaraderie as they strengthened more their bond as Marineros, together savoring the opportunities and facing the challenges as they prepare for the school to move forward to greater heights in the years to come. ###
