PCG and PCGA top officials grace 15th CGAD Bicol Anniversary in ceremonies at MPCF campus

Legazpi City, Albay – Top officials of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) honored with their presence the celebration of the 15th Coast Guard Auxiliary District (CGAD) on September 13, 2014 held at the Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) Annex in Rawis, this city.

The event included the giving of award to outstanding supporters of CGAD, the Induction, Promotion Ceremonies and the signing of Memorandun of Agreement (MOA) in which members of the local Coast Guard Auxiliary District will receive free hospitalization benefits at the Chinese General Hospital (CGH) should they incur injury during actual official activities of the units.

This benefit has been presented by Rear Admiral James Dy PCGA, who is President of the medical institution, in his recent visit to Legazpi City at the anniversary celebration.

Both Vice Admiral Isorena and Rear Admiral Dy were accorded arrival honors at the Mariners campus by Coast Guard Auxiliary-Officer Traning Corps (CGA-OTC) cadets of MPCF-Legazpi.

The theme of the anniversary celebration is “Expanding Horizons”. Vice Admiral Isorena who hails from the Province of Catanduanes was the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the occasion.

Among those given Special Awards were Former Governor Joseph Cua, Congressman Cesar Sarmiento and incumbent Governor Araceli Wong, all from Catanduanes. Governor Joey Salceda of Albay was also one of the awardees.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District in Bicol has been in the forefront of several activities especially in disaster risk reduction and responding to sea mishaps. It is also spouses pro-active events which the group spearheads by conducting drills and trainings among its members and coordinated with the local community it continues to serve.
